Cut Chemist

Es el nombre artístico del DJ de rap Lucas MacFadden. Es ex-miembro del grupo de funk latino Ozomatli y del grupo de rap Jurassic 5.



Su carrera comenzo formando parte del grupo de rap angelino Unity Committee y su debút fue en el sencillo Unified Rebelution. Su tema Lesson 4: The Radio es un tributo al Lessons 1-3 de Double Dee y Steinski. Antes del lanzamiento de dicho sencillo, Unity Committee formo Jurassic 5. MacFadden contribuyo en el primer sencillo del grupo con su tema Lesson 6: The Lecture y coproduciendo con el resto del disco junto a Nu-Mark.

El primer álbum completo, The Audience is Listening, fuen lanzado el 11 de julio de 2006 . Recientemente, Cut Chemist ha sido telonero en Europa de Shakira en su gira Oral Fixation Tour y en las ruedas de prensa de SEAT para promocionar dicha gira.

Actualmente, se encuentra de gira con DJ Shadow.





Cut chemist - Live at Future Primitive Sound Session (1998)



Cut Chemist y Shortkut manejado un total de cinco platos en este álbum, grabado en directo en San Francisco. A diferencia de la inmensa mayoría de discos de turntablist, Live at the Future Primitive Sound Session es capaz de aproximar a la increíble emoción de ver la realidad de un mundo DJs en acción. Se reconocen muchos temas de la vieja escuela (de Eric B. & Rakim, Ultramagnetic MC's, Newcleus, Afrika Bambaataa, incluso una versión radicalmente modificado de la Beastie Boys' "Egg Man"), pero hay bastantes raras ranuras en la mezcla - incluyendo lo que podría ser el primer uso de Jetro y Homer en un hip-hop. Cut chemist & Dj Shadow - Brainfreeze (1999)




Puede considerarse el primer disco de Cut Chemist. Fue un live mix de DJ Shadow y Cut Chemist (antiguo miembro de Jurassic 5 y Ozomatli). Las dos pistas del álbum son grabaciones ininterrumpidas de una actuación en directo, donde estos 2 monstruos pasan por muchos géneros: hit funk, soul, rock y jazz con vinilos singles de 45 rpm. Este tipo de grabación fue promovida por el dúo Double Dee y Steinski a través de sus "Lessons" (la diferencia de que los "lessons" cortes fueron meticulosamente editados conjuntamente a partir de fragmentos de cinta de audio, en lugar de realizarse en vivo usando tocadiscos).

Cut chemist & Dj Shadow - Product Placement (2001)



El CD se hallaba en venta sólo en los lugares de conciertos de DJ Shadow en las giras entre 2001-2003 y se editaron y publicaron un número muy limitado (6000 aparentemente). La tapa interior de la portada tiene una foto de Cut Chemist y DJ Shadow. Cut Chemist como un Chef, DJ Shadow un piloto de moto-cross y bebiendo la leche que le sirvió Cut Chemist. Una etiqueta en la caja dice "Ahora fortalecida con exclusiva tecnología Accu-Blend". En la parte trasera es una imagen de un cartón de leche y el interior muestra las imágenes de algunos de los registros utilizados para hacer la mezcla junto con el lema "IT'S SO IT'S SO NICE NICE WE HAD TO DO IT TWICE TWICE" y el texto que explica la "receta" del disco.

En LP de Cut Chemist que es una mezcla de todo lo que piensas que has oído. Este Dj de origenes Hollywoodienses y antiguo DJ de Jurassic 5 gira el microscopio hacia su propio catálogo en "The Litmus Test'', una mezcla de cada canción en la que él ha trabajando. Desde sus primeros temas como The Layered Laird" hasta remixes para grupos como Ugly Duckling, Cut Chemist (Lucas MacFadden) desmonta alegremente los latidos en 28 minutos de puro b-boy que te transporta al cielo. La mejor parte es una reordenación de una pista de un mantra de niños. Lanzó este brutal trabajo antes de su primer disco en solitario se reduce a Warner Brothers a finales de ese año.
