Dj Mitsu The Beats & Dj Mu-R

Hay artistas de la escena Hip-Hop, que, como si estuvieran tocados por una varita del buen gusto, nos tienen acostumbrados a buenos discos y este combo nipón es uno de ellos.
Dj Mitsu es un Dj y productor de la cuidad de Sendai, al norte de Japón.
Junto con su hermano menor Hunger y el Dj Mu-R conforman el grupo llamado Gagle.
Hace ya un año Mitsu se asoció con Mu-R, para grabar un disco titulado Sound Maneuvers, una alegoría al buen gusto, en donde tiene cabida una gran representación de lo que se puede conocer como "blasck music", funk, soul, música brasileña y hiphop, como no, entre muchos otros estilos musicales.

Gracias al buen resultado de esta primera compilación deciden unirse para hacer un nuevo disco, Maneuvers Classics, mucho más enfocado a la escena hiphop, con una buena ración de clásicos mezclados con un gusto y un saber estar, que asombra.

Sound Maneuvers y Maneuvers Classics son 2 trabajos que muestran las habilidades de estos 2 Dj´s de origen japonés, que nos sorprenden con su música tanto con la producción, como con los platos.

Estos son 2 discos que están compuesto por una selección de artista tomadas con pinzas, dentro de los cuales podemos encontrar a Pete Rock, Quasimoto, Slum Village, Common, Jazzmatazz, J Dilla (R.I.P), Flying Lotus, Phat Kat, Declaime y Platinum Pied Pipers. Entre otros.

Kings Of Leon

El nombre del grupo deriva del padre y del abuelo de Nathan, Caleb y Jared, llamados Leon. Jared y Caleb nacieron en Tennessee, mientras que Nathan y Matthew son de Oklahoma. Los hermanos pasaban gran parte de su tiempo viajando por el sur de los Estados Unidos con su padre, un predicador y su madre, que les enseñaba cuando no estaban en el colegio.

Sus padres se divorciaron en 1997 y tras varios trabajos, los hermanos se mudaron a Nashville en 1998. Los dos formaron una banda en 2000 con su primo Matthew. Su música está influenciada por educación religiosa y sus raíces del sur de los Estados Unidos. Consiguieron su álbum de debut Youth and Young Manhood y consiguieron un relativo estrellato, especialmente fuera de los Estados Unidos, por ser escogidos por bandas de rock famosas como The Strokes y U2 para acompañarles en sus giras. Algunas de las canciones incluidas son Molly’s Chambers y California Waiting .

Su segundo álbum, Aha Shake Heartbreak, fue lanzado el 22 de febrero de 2005 en los Estados Unidos. Kings of Leon a menudo hacen giras con su primo y técnico de las giras Chistopher, también conocido como Nacho. En el 2005 formaron parte del festival BUE y SUE, en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina y en la ciudad de Santiago, Chile donde tocaron con The Strokes.

El single On Call fue el adelanto de su tercer álbum Because of the Times que promocionaron durante el verano del 2008 encabezando la mayoría de festivales junto con los singles EscucharFans , Charmer y Crawl.

Sex on Fire les consiguió el primer número uno de las listas británicas las misma semana que Last.fm estrena mundialmente su cuarto álbum Only By The Night antes de su lanzamiento el 22 de Septiembre del 2008.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

BRMC, nombre corto con el que son conocidos, se formaron en 1998 tomando su nombre de la pandilla de moticiclistas de la película de Marlon Brando de 1953: "The Wild One". Originalmente tenían el nombre The Elements pero al descubrir que había otro grupo con el mismo nombre decidieron cambiarlo a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Been y Hayes se conocieron en la preparatoria en San Francisco y rápidamente formaron una banda, escribiendo canciones y tocando juntos. Al estar buscando un baterista, conocieron a Jago, nacido en Cornwall, Inglaterra al poco tiempo de haberse mudado con sus padres a California.

Been utilizó el pseudónimo "Robert Turner" durante sus primeras dos grabaciones, en un intento por no ser vinculado con Michael Been, su aclamado padre y miembro de la agrupación The Call. Más tarde dejó a un lado esta identidad.

Atrapados en la moda de la New Rock Revolution establecida por la prensa musical entre 2001 y 2003 con grupos como The Strokes y Kings of Leon, decidieron separarse rápidamente de los demás tanto musical como estéticamente. Su segundo álbum Take Them On, On Your Own, incluye canciones como "Generation" y "US Government" que atacan explícitamente a los Estados Unidos y en particular a George Bush.

Después de conflictos con su compañía discográfica, Virgin Records, fueron expulsados en 2004. A finales de su gira de verano ese mismo año, Nick Jago dejó a la banda debido a "conflictos internos", que después fueron confirmados como problemas con la bebida y las drogas.

Después de la salida de Jago, Hayes y Been publicaron en la página oficial de la banda que las puertas estaban abiertas para que él regresara en cuanto resolviera sus problemas. Después ellos dos regresaron al estudio para grabar su tercer disco. Supuestamente varias de las canciones contenidas en Howl fueron escritas mucho antes de que incluso el concepto de BRMC fuera creado.

En el 2005 la banda fue firmada con Echo en el Reino Unido y RCA en EUA. Su tercer producción, Howl, también fue editada ese año y obtuvo muy buenas críticas. Jago reingresó al grupo el mismo año después de que el álbum había sido grabado, a excepción del track 7 "Promise" en el que él toca.

Baby 81, su cuarto álbum de estudio, fue lanzado por Island Records el 4 de Mayo del 2007 en el Reino Unido y Europa, y el 5 de Mayo por RCA en los Estados Unidos, presentando como primer sencillo "Weapon of Choice", con un sonido más cercano a sus primeras producciones y colocando de nuevo a las guitarras electricas en primer plano -aunque sin olvidar del todo ciertas tonadas folk de su anterior álbum- fue recibido de buena manera por la crítica especializada.

Estilo

Sus primeros dos trabajos están plasmados de punk-rock acelerado con influencias de Iggy Pop and The Stooges, los Ramones, los Doors, los Sex Pistols y bandas británicas ochenteras como Spacemen 3 y especialmente The Jesus & Mary Chain. Sin embargo existían también canciones más lentas, psicodélicas y groovy influenciadas por grupos shoegaze como My Bloody Valentine y Ride

Para su tercer álbum, desarrollaron un nuevo sonido que flota entre el blues, el folk, el gospel y el rock; conservando aún su vieja melancolía. En este disco, las labores vocales son compartidas entre Been y Hayes. Posibles influencias para esta etapa del grupo incluyen a la generación de poetas "beat", particularmente Allen Ginsberg. Esto es evidente en el título Howl de su disco, que es a su vez el nombre del trabajo más celebrado de Ginsberg.

El cuarto álbum, "Baby 81" presenta un sonido que regresa a la pristina propuesta de la banda pero fundamentado con la potencia emocional de su inmediato antecesor.

Percee P

John Percy Simon, también -y mejor- conocido como Percee P, es un rapero norteamericano nacido en 1971 en la ciudad de Nueva York, específicamente en el barrio del Bronx. Comenzó a rapear sus primeros escritos a la edad de ocho años, y se mantuvo en el underground LOCAL (se dice esto ya que vendía sus elepes en la puerta de la tienda Fat Beats, y era básicamente conocido en el plano alternativo del hip-hop), haciendo colaboraciones con artistas de la talla de Big Daddy Kane, Kool Keith, Lord Finesse, Jurassic 5, y Wildchild entre otros. Permaneció así,reacio a entablar relación con la voraz industria musical, hasta que en 2007 publicó su primer trabajo oficial, Perseverance, bajo la manga del ya enaltecido sello Stones Throw Records, asesorado y adornado por la mano del productor Madlib.

Explicando su contrato con el sello a la revista Serie B (España), el MC comentó «la cercanía que logró con los productores y ejecutivos, y la libertad que le otorgaron a la hora de trabajar». Así, Percee P sigue manteniendo sus ideales y su manera de ver el rap.

Algo que caracteriza a Percee P, además de su notable talento lírico, es su espíritu vieja escuela. A pesar de ya tener cierto renombre y un disco editado bajo el brazo, el emcee continúa practicando la venta de sus discos mediante el cara-a-cara en sus presentaciones.

Pete Philly & Perquisite Discography

Pete Philly & Perquisite are a hip hop duo, originating from the Netherlands. Pieter Monzon "Pete Philly" (born 1980 in Aruba) is an MC and Pieter Perquin "Perquisite" (born 1982 in Amsterdam) plays cello, produces and writes all the music.
Their music is best described as hip hop, combined with jazz, broken beat and soul. They usually perform with help from DJ PCM (Misha van der Winkel), Remco Keijzer on saxophone and flute and Kasper Kalf on double-bass. On some occasions Pete's girlfriend Senna Gourdou comes out on stage and sings "Mellow" with them.

Pete Philly and Perquisite both had musical careers before they met in the autumn of 2002. They decided to collaborate and in 2003 their first EP The Mindstate EP came out. The EP received critical acclaim, which stimulated Pete Philly & Perquisite to record a full album in the likes of the EP. Each track of the album would represent a state of mind, hence the title Mindstate. The actual writing, recording and producing of the much anticipated album took 18 months in total, and included collaborations, with fellow Dutch rapper Cee-Major (The Proov), Dutch singer Senna Gourdou and American rapper Talib Kweli. The debut album was considered by critics as one of the best albums ever by Dutch artists, but albumsales weren't impressive. Critics often claimed that the album didn't sell as well as projected because the album might be too good for the Netherlands (in Dutch "onnederlands goed"). The duo did create a very solid fanbase with performances across Europe and also in the USA and South Africa. Success rose because of their performances and hitsongs in the likes of Mellow and Grateful. Their success led them to winning an Essent Award and a Zilveren Harp. They also have been nominated for a Dutch MOBO-award and for the prestigious Edison-award.

On August 20, 2006 they performed at the A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise-festival for the second time, this time performing with the New Generation Big Band.

Glasvegas

Glasvegas are a Scottish rock band from Glasgow. The band comprises James Allan (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rab Allan (lead guitar, backing vocals), Paul Donoghue (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Caroline McKay (drum kit). Since their formation in 2001, they have released one studio album and six singles.

After releasing their third limited edition 7" single, "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry" on 14 February 2008, the band opted to sign to Columbia. They then won the prestigious Philip Hall Radar Award at the NME Awards two weeks later. Glasvegas recorded their eponymous debut album, Glasvegas, at Brooklyn Recording Studios in New York. The album was produced by James Allan and Rich Costey. The album was released on 8 September 2008, and included re-recordings of "Daddy's Gone", "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry" and "I'm Gonna Get Stabbed" (retitled "Stabbed"), the former being the second single from the album, as well as previously unreleased songs "Polmont on My Mind," "Lonesome Swan," "S.A.D. Light" and "Geraldine," which was the first single from the album. In October 2008, Glasvegas recorded their second studio album, A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like a Kiss), over twelve days, two in New York and for ten days in a Transylvanian church in Romania, frontman James Allan earlier stating it would be a Christmas album and released on 1 December 2008.

Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend es una banda de Indie-rock originaria de Nueva York que se hizo pública por medio de varios blogs de internet, los miembros se conocieron por primera vez en la universidad de Columbia donde hicieron un filme de donde se desprende el nombre de la banda: Vampire Weekend, en la cancion Walcott habla sobre ello. Sus integrantes son: Ezra Koenig (lead vocals, guitar), Rostam Batmanglij (keyboard, guitar, vocals), Chris Tomson (drums) y Chris Baio (bass guitar)

En 2007, su hit "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" terminó en la posición número 67 de la lista que expone cada año Rolling Stone "Las 100 mejores canciones del año"

El 29 de Enero de 2008 debutaron con un álbum homónimo,del cual se desprenden los temas A-punk, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, Mansard Roof, Oxford Comma
